Welcome to Mrs. Richard's Room! We will be using this blog throughout the rest of the school year as a place for us to grow and reflect as active learners. You will be able to:

  • blog about books you have read throughout the year
  • check any assignments that you need to catch up on
  • view links for useful websites
  • discuss things we are working on in class
  • AND share your awesome work with your classmates, your parents, and other teachers--my favorite part
Thank you for being a part of our class!

  3. Do you think that WICKED is good or bad? Explain why you think so.

  4. Alex: I think that WICKED is a bad thing because they are trapping young men in a maze to test experiments.

  5. Eli: I agree with Alex because if the gladers don't do something right they will die.

  6. Cooper:I agree and disagree with Alex and Eli because it was bad how they did it, but it was for a good purpose.

  7. Stephanie: I do indeed agree with Alex. WICKED is a bad thing because it took them from their family and their homes.

  8. I agree that WICKED could be both good and bad. Great observations, everyone. WICKED seems good in that their purpose is to preserve humanity. That's good, right? My question to you is: at what cost? Is it OK to sacrifice the lives of a few for the greater good of the population? We began this theme in our study of dystopian novels like the Hunger Games and Maze Runner. We will continue looking at this after LEAP with The Scorch Trials and a poem we will read called "The World Is an Unpleasant Place to Be." Stay tuned!!
